On the second day of his apostolic visit to Spain, Pope Leo XIV celebrated a Corpus Christi Mass before 1.2 million faithful gathered in Plaza de Cibeles in the heart of Madrid. Following the Mass, the Holy Father led a Eucharistic procession through the city centre, passing over elaborate floral carpets created from more than 30,000 carnations.
Later, Pope Leo met representatives of Spanish civil society at Madrid’s Movistar Arena, where he addressed figures from the worlds of culture, business, education and charitable work, speaking about the importance of faith, human dignity and service to the common good in contemporary society.
